Validity/reliability Flashcards
(10 cards)
Validity:
the degree to which a measuring instrument measures what is purports to measure
concurrent validity
the degree to which a new test correlates with an established test of known validity
construct validity
the degree to which test scores are consistent with theoretical concepts, constructs, or expectations
i.e. a test that shows higher scores for older children than younger is consistent with the theoretical construct that language changes
content validity
measure of the validity of a test based on thorough examination of all test items to determine whether the items are relevant to measuring what the tests purports to measure, and whether the items adequately sample the full range of the skill being measured
predictive validity
the accuracy with which a test predicts future performance on a related task
reliability
means the consistency of stability with which the same event is repeatedly measured
usually expressed with a correlation coefficient (-1 - +1)
interjudge reliability
refers to how similarly a subject’s performance is independently rated or measured by two or more observers
intrajudge reliability
the consistency with which the same observer measures the same person on repeated occasions
alternate form reliability
refers to the consistency of measures when to forms of the same test are administered to the same person
test-retest reliability
consistency of measures when the same test is administered to the same person twice
