Define natural vegetation.
All plant grows which depends upon natural environment as temperature
rainfall
sunlight and water in association with physical factors is called as natural vegetation.
How much area of the world is covered by forests? How much area of Pakistan is covered with forests?
About 25-30% area of the earth surface is covered by forests today. Before the start of agriculture
it was 45% of the total area. Only 4.8 % area of Pakistan is covered with forests.
Describe the types of natural vegetation of the world.
Natural vegetation can be divided into three types. 1 Forests 2 Desert vegetation 3 Grasslands
What are the three types of evergreen forests? (LHR 2013-1/21) (RWP-19)

World’s largest rain fed equatorial natural forests lies in Brazil in the continent of South America.
Which continent of the world is without natural vegetation and why?
Continent of Antarctica is absolutely empty from natural vegetation because it is hundred percent covered by snow.
Write down factors responsible for the development of natural vegetation?
Distribution and vegetative growth of natural vegetation depends upon: 1 Temperature 2 Altitude (height) 3 Annual average rainfall 4 soil 5 sunlight etc.
Define evergreen forests.
All those types of forests which never shed (lose) their leaves and remain green throughout the year are called evergreen forests.
Describe economic importance or advantages of natural vegetation or forests. State importance of forests in Pakistan.
(i) Source of timber (ii) Source of oxygen 3 Source of food 4 Source of rainfall 5 prevention from floods

Write down two important characteristics of mulberry tree?
(i)Mulberry is an important tree of the Mediterranean region. (ii)Its wood is used in sports goods manufacturing. (iii)Its leaves are food for silkworms which produce natural silk.
Define grasslands.
In the areas of the world where rainfall is low and temperature is high different types of grasses developed as growth of forests in not possible are called grasslands.
Define deciduous forests.
Those forests which shed (lose) their leaves in any part of the year are called as Deciduous forests. These forests do not remain green throughout the year.
Define forests. What is meant by forests in technical terms.
Forests are the plants, mostly of trees or woody vegetation present on an area of land. Allen and Sharp has defined forests in his book “An introduction to American forestry as: “A community of trees and associated organisms covering a considerable area by utilizing air, water and minerals to attain maturity and to reproduce itself and capable of furnishing mankind with indispensable products and services are called forests
