-Attack on British Legation by enemy boxers occupying the building
-A hole was driven in the legation to try drive the men out
-Despite severe woundings Cpt was able to kill 4 enemies
-Refused assistance and walked to the hospital unaided

-Gave assistance to wounded and when the trench was evacuated, helped to remove and attend the casualties, despite being hurt himself

-Two heavy shills hit foretop of HMS Vindictivekilling or disabling all but Sgt Finch
-Continued firing at the enemy in his battered and exposed position harassing the enemy on the mole until the foretop took another fatal hit

-Come under fire from houses where Spandau machine guns were lodged
-By seizing Bren gun running 200 yards of open ground, offered himself as a target to save his troop, forcing six gunners to surrender and the remainder to flee.
