A

Bars charts run horizontal, columns chart run vertically

17
Q

What 2 visuals support conditional foramtting?

A

Tables and matrix

18
Q

What is needed to make sure a slicer is synced between multiple slicers on other report pages?

A

It has to be using the same column

19
Q

What two data types are supported in bin-based grouping?

A

Only Date/Time and Numeric

20
Q

What is Grouping data in Power BI Visuals?

A

Grouping is used for categories of data like grouping 3 states, 3 products, 3 top customers together to see how they compare to the rest of the categories

21
Q

What are the 2 group types in power bi?

A

List and Binning

22
Q

What data types can use List grouping and Binning?

A

Number and Date/Time fields can use binning or list grouping
Text can only use list grouping

23
Q

What is Binning data in Power BI visuals?

A

Binning data is like grouping but instead you use it to group continuous fields like numbers and dates. It allows you to right-size the data.

24
Q

Why would you use grouping and binning in power bi?

A

when you want to analyze data and see trends for groups that don’t naturally exist in the source data with a lookup table or an attribute to identify them. So for example grouping Countries by Continet or binning customer ages

25
How do you create a new bin or group?
In the data pane right click the column and select New Group
26
What are the 2 bin types?
Size of Bins and Number of Bins
27
What is size of bins?
this is where you set the size or the interval for the bins and power BI will create how ever many bins are needed. So if you had 10 ages from 60-80 and you wanted to have them binned every 10 years it would create have 3 bins 60, 70, 80
28
What is number of bins?
you select the number of bins you want and it auto sets the bin size. so if you only want 2 bins and had 10 ages from 60-80 it will figure out how to bin the values so that they fall in the first bin or the second bin
29
What is clustering
A way to identify segments of data (called a cluster) that are similar to each other and different from the rest.
30
What 2 resources do you need to create a histogram of a range of numbers?
a bin group type and a numeric column
31
What DAX function would you use to create a formula that will list the top 10 best-selling products sorted by their total sales?
TOPN
32
What does RANKX do?
It returns the ranking of a number in a list of numbers for each row in a table
33
If you need to add a new visual to a power bi dashboard and the visual does not exist on a report in the workspace what should you do first?
Ask a question about your data since the Q&A feature lets you create a visual by asking a question then pinning it to the dashboard
