Can occur with refeeding syndrome and alcoholism. Wet beriberi results in dilated cardiomyopathy, Wernicke encephalopathy, and refractory lactic acidosis. Dry beriberi results in ophthalmoplegia and Korsakoff psychosis (confabulation, amnesia)
