What can the propeller do ?

A propeller consists of several twisted blades attached to a central hub spun around by an engine.

The chord is the width of a blade.
The pitch is the angle at which the blade is set.

- Fixed pitch propellers : angle of attach is set and can't be changed

What's a way to increase thrust ?
By using longer blades.

It's the angle at which the blade hits the air

How is the blade twisted ?
The degree of twist varies from a high angle at the root to a shallow angle at the tip. This is because the tip hits the air at a much greater spinning speed than the blade.

It's referred to as a fine pitch that creates less drag because it reduces resistance and requires less engine power to spin.

It's a coarse pitch which makes more drag to spin and requires more engine power. But it creates less drag.
