Definitions of Health and Wellness, Life Expectancy
Health- the combination of physical, mental/emotional, and social well-being
Wellness- an overall state of well-being or total health
Life Expectancy- number of years a person can expect to live
Three ways people can take charge of their health
Getting regular health check-ups, eating nutritious foods, and regular physical activity
Explain the health triangle and give an example of each one
The health triangle illustrates different aspects of health and wellness, it emphasizes that all three sides should be balanced for overall well-being.
Example:
Physical health: Nutritious meals, 30-60 min of physical activity
Mental health- mindfulness, stress management
Social health- Community involvement, and healthy relationships
How can people cope with stress?
People can cope with stress by staying active such as by taking a walk, they can also reflect on what’s causing them stress, and spending time with family and friends
Stages of Stress (3 stages)
Alarm stage- body releases adrenaline into blood which creates an initial reaction called the fight- or- flight response
Resistance stage- body adapts to the continued presence of the stressor and uses lots of energy making someone irritated and tired
Exhaustion stage- physical and emotional resources depleted, experience extreme stress which is beyond control

Heredity, environment, behavior, attitude, media, and technology (hebamt)
Self-esteem- how can you improve your self-esteem?
Choose friends who value and respect me, working towards accomplishments rather than perfection, try new activities, focus on positive aspects about myself
Character Traits (6 traits)
Trustworthiness- keeping promises such as when telling a friend, you are going to study together and keeping it
Respect- Active listening to teachers or any adults
Responsibility- Finishing a certain task by set deadline or doing household chores
Fairness- sharing resources with friends equally ensuring everyone feels included
Caring- volunteering to help someone or just small acts of kindness such as opening the door for someone
Citizenship- following local, state laws for a safe society
Communication skills- three skills
Use “I” messages to express feelings
Communicate with respect and caring
Be an active listener
Conflict Resolution- How to properly solve a conflict.
To properly solve a conflict step away from the argument, allow the conflict to subside, use good interpersonal communication skills, and maintain an attitude of respect for both parties
