Act
A major division in a play. An act is a part of a play defined by elements such as rising action, climax and resolution. A scene is a part of an act defined with the changing of characters.
Antecedent Action
Part of the exposition that gives the reader insight to any events that happened before.
Antonym
a word opposite in meaning to another
Autobiography
an account of a person’s life written by that person.
Bias
prejudice in favor of or against one thing, person, or group compared with another, usually in a way considered to be unfair.
Biography
an account of someone’s life written by someone else.
Context
the circumstances that form the setting for an event, statement, or idea, and in terms of which it can be fully understood and assessed.
Dialogue
conversation between two or more people as a feature of a book, play, or movie
Fable
a short story, typically with animals as characters, conveying a moral
Figurative
departing from a literal use of words; metaphorical.
Legend
a traditional story sometimes popularly regarded as historical but unauthenticated
Literal
taking words in their usual or most basic sense without metaphor or allegory.
Mood
a temporary state of mind or feeling.
Tone
the general character or attitude of a place, piece of writing, situation, etc.
Moral
concerned with the principles of right and wrong behavior and the goodness or badness of human character.
