Voice 3 Flashcards
(19 cards)
Breath…..
Breath flow becomes sound when expirated air (the excitor) passes through the vocal folds (the vibrator)
Muscular
Movement of the folds restrict the path of air flow.
Changes
In pressure of the expirated air effect the vibrations.
The greater
Flow of breath, the greater cumulative effect on volume.
Pitch
Is mentally conceived.
The mental
Conception initiates muscular movement in the vocal folds.
Slower
The vibrations deeper the pitch.
The faster
The vibrations the higher the pitch
Pitch is
Also governed by length of vocal folds, tension in the folds and their mass.
Men
Tend to have deeper voices as their vocal folds tend to be larger.
Breath
Flow also affects affects the muscular adduction of the folds and influences pitch changes.
The
Greater the pressure the greater the vibrations and the higher pitch.
Three
Main resonators are the nose, mouth and the pharynx (the neck)
There
Function is to produce tone through sympathetic resonance.
Sympathetic resonances
Is essentially the transfer of acoustic vibration from one area to an other.
Example?
Opera singer who hits notes frequency that smash a glass at the other side of the room.
The
Resonators amplify and alter the sound that originated from the vocal folds.
The three
Resonators have differing properties and shapes that acoustically affect sound being produced in the larynx.
As actors
It’s important to have a healthy balanced use of the resonators to produce a well rounded, well modulated sound.
