Voice 4 Flashcards
(13 cards)
The vellum
When dropped causes nasal resonance and when raised, oral resonance.
The tounge
When raised narrows the oral cavity and when lowered widens the space
The lips
When narrowed alter the resonating space.
Resonance
Characteristics are affected by factors such as, size, shape and type of opening.
The larger
A resonating chamber is, the lower frequency it will respond to.
Vowels are formed
by air flow flowing freely through the vocal tract, with the lips, younger and velum shaking the space.
Consonants
Are formed by a total of partial blockage of the air flow articulators.
In pronunciation
We produce twelve distinct and recognisable sounds.
Phonetics
The science if speech, the symbols on the right represent the distinction between each of the sounds.
