Voter choice:
KU: ams gives good voter choice because you have two votes so you can vote for a smaller party if you’d like and your vote won’t be wasted.
A: this is important since it stops there from being as much tactical voting for the regional vote. However
tactical voting does still exist since there are fptp parts in ams. For example
KU: fptp limits voter choice because of safe seats and the fact that fptp is a two horse race. In a safe seat there’s no point in voting for the non leading party as your vote will be wasted
this means that fptp almost encourages tactical voting.
A: this is important because it means that parliament doesn’t represent the true choices of voters. You never get your first choice when you vote tactically. For example
as many as 30% of tactical voters wished that they could vote green if they had their first choice.
