What are the WSF procedures for VTS checkins moving between VTS Seattle and Victoria.

A

Around Limestone Pt westbound, WSF checks out of Seattle Traffic on 5A and into Victoria Traffic on Ch. 11 for Haro Traffic. Eastbound, they check out of Victoria Traffic on Ch. 11 and back into Seattle Traffic on Ch. 5a in the vicinity of Danger Shoal.

What are the 3 additional requirements and 1 deviation for the VTS special areas for Rosario Strait and Guemes Channel

A

The following conditions apply to vessels 40,000 DWT and over: they shall not be impeded by vessels towing, they will not enter the area without approval of VTS granted at least 15 minutes prior, they will not operate within 2,000 yards of each other or vessels over 100m except when crossing astern. A deviation is granted to Ferries meeting vessels over 40,000 DWT when the intention is to pass astern.

Describe the Tanker safety area in Haro Strait

A

The Tanker safety area is a two mile arc centered on Turn Point Light. Loaded tankers of 40,000 DWT or greater are required to make passing arrangements. This is established in accordance with the Cooperative Vessel Traffic Management System Agreement.
