A

A
  1. Dispense a 30cm piece of floss
  2. Wrap around middle fingers
  3. Use thumbs and pointer fingers to guide floss
  4. Ease over contact point
  5. Wrap around proximal aspect of teeth in a ā€œcā€
  6. Slide up and down (do no saw) bringing beneath the gingival margin
  7. Use different parts of the floss
  8. Floss before brushing

A

Clean twice a day over a basin filled with water (to avoid breakage if dropped)
Remove plaque and debris from gums with a wet facewasher
Remove in the evening and store in dry container.
Avoid using cleaning agents or brushes, boiling water, detergents, bleaches or anything strong.

Describe alcohol mouthwash

A

Optimal antimicrobial activity at 50-90% concentration. It is used as a solvent, preservative and antiseptic. Broad spectrum activity versus bacteria, fungi, viruses. Studies have shown that alcohol mouthwashes can have a detriments. Not recommended for long term use. Recommened alchohol-free mouth washes

What are the contraindications for alchohol mouth wash?

A

Xerostomia, dental erosion due to low oral pH, oral mucosal disease due to irritation and dryness. Unsuitable for children.
