Walking aid sit-to-stand

A
  • Crutches held on affected side, free of body.
  • Affected leg extended out- presents pushing up on it.
  • Push up using sound leg and hand on chair.
  • Never use walking aid to push up.
  • Zimmer frames: never let pt hold zimmer frame during sitting and standing transfers as they could fall. Instead one hand on arm of chair and one on seat pf chair.

  • Affected leg extended out- presents pushing up on it.
  • Lower down using sound leg and hand on chair.
  • Affected lag glides forwards (not trapped under chair).
  • Never use walking aid to lower down.

  • Then crutch
  • Practice with rail on same side as at home.
