Religious imagery is created as in the Bible called let go of Jesus is only son when Jesus came to earth and was crucified. He did this to show that he loved them that God alone could do it shows how difficult it is.

Changed her most steady rhythm underlines how the father has come to a philosophical understanding. The son has to walk away from his father to find his own identity and the father proves his love for his son by letting him go.
Form
The poem has a first person narrator. This emphasises that is talking about personal experiences the use of enjambment and caesura contributes to the rhythm of the poem which sounds like natural speech the regular ABACA scheme reflects the deadlines of the father’s parental love and the repetition of a reflects how the memory of the day continues to affect him years later
Structure
And last two stand is generated about memory in the final two times as he reflects on how the memory still painted the final two lines of the poem for a sort of conclusion he understands that whilst it was a painful event it was necessary part of his son’s development
