When was Harding elected as president?
1920.
What was his previous position?
Republican senator of Ohio.
Why was Harding so able to sway crowds and reporters?
He was a former newspaper publisher from a mid size town.
What did he promise?
A hands off approach to governing - a return to normalcy.
What was partly the reason he won by a landslide?
What helped partly was the millions of women now being able to vote - powered by the 19th ammendment.
What did Harding support?
Pro business policies which made him ease off on Federal Regulation
What did he propose which made him the first ever government to do so?
A new budgeting law. He proposed spending levels to executive branches while also helping to cut down on government costs.
What about Harding make him a bad leader?
He never really was an independent speaker, for most of his political career he just followed the lead of republican party bosses.
What did Harding struggle with?
He was prone to nervous breakdowns as he found his position overwhelming.
What happened in accordance to Harding’s poor leadership qualities.
Some appointees took advantage of that and stole from the govt.

The teapot dome bribery scandal - which was a 1920s bribery case involving secret leasing of federal oil reserves to private companies.
