Q

How do plants absorb water ?

A

Plants have straw like tubes xylem&phloem when they are absorbing water capillary action is taking place the cohesion of water molecules push water ; adhesion allows the water to stick to the sides

8
Q

How is surface tension formed ?

A

Surface tension is formed the the cohesion of water molecules.oxygen has. More of a electronegativity or pull on electrons. Water is a polar molecule due to the slightly negative oxygens and slightly positive hydrogens . Oxygen is attracted to other hydrogens by a hydrogen bond . Hydrogen bonds form cohesion. Cohesion forms surface tension .

Q

How does water desolve compounds ?

A

The ionic bond is broken by a positive atom being attracted to the slightly negative O and a negative atom being attracted to the slightly positive H this keep the positive and negative atoms from reforming a bond
