Why was art deco?

A

Inspired by mass production and industrialisation as well as being influenced by historical styles such as african and egpytptian, due to the recent discovery of Tutankhamun’s tomb. They used sunbursts to signify new starts and wanted a simple and affordable style suitable for post WW1.
