How CAFOD are helping

A

development programmes- supports long term development so leds can become richer and become medcs. E.g. Bangladesh have floods and this ruins the crops, so they have a programme for farmers to help them make money and sell crops then this happened
Disaster and emergencies- they have a disaster fun to help countries when they suffer from natural disasters so they get back on track and they have an emergency find that they send oversea in times of need.
Raise awareness- 5% of budget spent on educations people and telling people the work of CAFOD. this encourages people to help ad then leaflets and newspapers given too
Bringing social justice- involved in campaigns that fight for equality and justice calmly and thy support Fair trade to bring LEDs a better quality of life key word

Causes of world poverty

A

Wars- they destroy crops, schools homes and hospitals- refugees seek shelter in countries and this can make that country poorer due to more supplies needed and the LEDc struggling due to war
Natural disasters- ledcs located in spots prone to disaster, if earthquake or flood happens then all crops destroyed and no food to sell so they end up in poverty.
Debt- borrow money and have to pay high interest, this money could have been spent on development. So they are left poor.
HIV and Aids- contraception and drugs are too expensive so they cannot buy them. Children can become affected not going to school leading to more poverty.
Other issues- too high of a population. Not enough food and supplies. Lack of sanitation and pollution.

Why CAFOD helping

A

New Testament says that riches should be used to help others.
Parable of sheep and goats- whatever you did for the least of these brothers and sisters of mine you did for me. We help Jesus by helping the poor
Only way to gain salvation and eternal life is though helping others
Sermon on the mount says that we should share our time and possessions with those in need and try to end world poverty by doing this
It is our duty as Catholics to help the poor
Golden rule- we should help as we would want help if the roles were reversed
