What does weathering mean
Breaking down of rock by the weather if heat or frost.
What does erosion mean
Breaking sown of rock which is then transported then eventually deposited, eg. River, sea or glaciers.
What are the three types of weathering
Biological, chemical and mechanical
What is mechanical weathering
Rocks break and are split apart caused by frost or heat.
What is chemical weathering
When rocks dissolve or rot due to chemical reaction with water.
What dies biological weathering mean
When humans and animals or plants break down rocks.
What is carbonation
A type of chemical weathering when the rain gets affected by CO2, and it turns to acidic rain then dissolves to limestone.
What is a karst landscape
A bare limestone area
How does limestone pavement form
When rain falls on limestone rock , flows into the tiny joints on the surface, then it dissolves the edges of joints by carbonation.

Irregular shaped slabs of rock

What is onion weathering
The great heat of sun makes the outer layer of the rock hear and expand, at night, the rock cools down, eventually it is repeated heating and cooling making the rock laters crack off in slices, this happens in deserts. Scree also falls.
