Q

Meaning of Aphorism 27 :

“The curative capacity of medicines rests upon their symptoms being similar to the disease, but with power that outweighs it.”
A

‘Let likes be cured by likes”

Law of simliars

Q

Wesen

A

Vital Force :

Essence of life , life force, dynamis

essence of a person, in it’s most concentrated form

directs all other functions of the body,

All medicines and diseases have Wesen

Q

Aphorism 9 :

In the healthy human state, the spirit-like life force that enlivens the material organism (the body) governs without restriction and keeps all parts of the organism in admirable, harmonious and vital operation, as regards both feelings and functions, so that our indwelling, rational spirit can freely avail itself of this living, healthy instrument for the higher purposes of our existence.

A
  • energy drives function of the body
  • vital force keeps everything in harmony
  • he is not trying to make you feel better , but rather find a cure for the purpose of life.

Q

The material organism, thought of without life force, is capable of no sensibility, no activity, no self-preservation. It derives all sensibility and produces its life functions solely by means of the immaterial ‘wesen’, that enlivens the material organism in health and in disease.
aphorism 11

A

you can think of the bidy as a machine.

without the life force, wesen, vital force, there is not spark that causes a functioning body to be alive and human.

Q

Vital Force Naturopathy vs. Homeopathy

A

Naturopaths propose that the body’s vital force has innate wisdom and ability to heal itself.

Homeopathy says that the pathologically untuned VF cannot usually correct itself. Therefore the remedies are essential

Q

Aphorism 6

In order to cure, he only needs to see and experience its diseased effects (symptoms). Therefore, in the eyes of the medical-art practitioner, is not that which reveals itself to the senses by disease signs (symptoms) the disease itself ?”

A

Totality of Symptoms

You can never se the Wesen, b/c the symptoms show you all that you need to know.

The totality of these symptoms is the outwardly reflected image of the inner wesen of the disease, that is, of the suffering of the life force.

Q

Aphorism 8

If the symptoms are removed, the disease is eradicated.

A

The only way to cure health ( energetic) from disease (energetic) , medicines have to be energetic.
If you don’t show the proving symptoms, you have eradicated the disease.

All the symptoms of the patient must be taken into consideration, not just those that pertain to the main pathology (disease).

17
Q

Provings :

A

when the remedy is given to a healthy human, they will exhibit the ‘proving symptoms’ ie) the symptoms associated with that ailment/disease.

Can only be done on healthy humans because the medicines actions cannot be distinctly perceived in a sick person. (it would be too easily confused with the symptoms of the natural disease

18
Q

Dynamis

A

Means movement.
Material that is static won’t help repair the vital force
the medicines must be dynamic in order to heal.

Dynamically is curing without communication to the material parts of the medicinal substance. . Medicinal energy becomes freer and more immaterial through progressive dynamization

19
Q

When a person falls ill it is initially only this life force, everywhere present in the organism, that is mistuned through the dynamic influence of a morbific (disease) agent.
aphorism 11

A

Dynamis :

Means movement.
Material that is static won’t help repair the vital force
the medicines must be dynamic in order to heal.

20
Q

Potentized

A

A dynamized medicine : the medicine is in it’s purest most concentrated form from dilution and succusion.

21
Q

Provings :

A

when the remedy is given to a healthy human, they will exhibit the ‘proving symptoms’ ie) the symptoms associated with that ailment/disease.

Can only be done on healthy humans because the medicines actions cannot be distinctly perceived in a sick person. (it would be too easily confused with the symptoms of the natural disease

22
Q

“The agreement of my observations of the pure actions of medicines [i.e. proving symptoms] with older reports of poisonings, persuades us that substances alter the body according to certain reliable symptoms….”

Paraphrase, aphorism 111

A

Proving vs. Poisoning :

Hahnemann believed that he proving would be as potent as the poison and show up 100% of the time.

That is, (for example) mercury poisoning will always produce the same symptoms in the human body… likewise, proving symptoms are always reliable.

23
Q

Simillimum

A

A substance brings about an artifical disease state simliar to a patient’s natural disease state.

24
Q

Artificial vs. Natural disease states.

A

When 2 similar dynamic diseases meet in a living organism, the stronger extinguishes or ‘pushes/forces out’ the weaker.

whichever is stronger the vital force or the symptoms will result in the health outcomes. We want to push onto the vital force a bit to stimulate it’s resorative power (with the remedies) so that it overcomes the symptoms and restores health.

25
Q

Medicine Initial-Action : Dynamis Counter-Action

A

When confronted with large doses of a medicinal substance: our vital force is at first strongly affected (initial-action), but then always produces a counter-action producing the exact opposite state.

Example: Excess liveliness is produced from drinking strong coffee (initial-action), but subsequent sleepiness returns (counter-action)… unless taken away again by drinking more coffee (palliation).
