What is the procedure?

A
  1. Partner should be checking mother for PPH
  2. Assess neonate for breathing/ crying/ good muscle tone
  3. If “yes” then give baby to mom and provide warmth
  4. Clamp and cut cord
  5. If “no” evaluate respirations and HR (consider SPO2 & cardiac monitor)
  6. If breathing AND HR is >100 then provide supportive care
  7. If breathing AND HR is <100 then provide 30 secs of PPV using room air
  8. Assess the HR (6 secs) if <60 bpm administer 30 secs of CPR and PPV using 100 % O2
  9. Once HR is >60 stop CPR but continue with PPV until HR is >100
  10. Provide supportive care (blow by oxygen)
