Week 3A Flashcards
(23 cards)
pelvic inlet
a line (called linea terminalis) that separtes the true pelvis from the false pelvis
superior to the linea terminalis
abdomen or false pelvis
interior to the linea terminalis
pelvis or true pelvis
What is the pelvic inlet formed from?
the petin pubis- pubic bone
arcuate line-ilium
sacral promontory- sacrum
More superficial fatty layer (campers)
continuous with the superficial fatty layers in the thorax, thigh and perineum
membraneous layer deeper
Scarpa’s
-continuous with the fascia lata in the thigh and with the deep layer of superficial perineal fascia
Campers
- continuous with fatty superficial layer in thorax and thigh
- membranous “deep” layer of superficial fascia (Scarpa’s)
Scarpa’s
fuses with the fascia lata
is continuous over the penis and scrotum
Deep fascia of the abdominal wall
deep fascia (investin fascia of the muscles) does not follow the same pattern as the membranous layer of superficial fascia . clinically important, bc it holds sutures
Potential space for hernia
Btw the memranous layer of superficial fascia and the deep fascia of the external abdominal oblique
transverse place midway btw the superior borders of the pubic symphysis and th emanubrium
transpyloric plane
plane at the lowest level of the costal margin
subcostal plane
plane passing through the summits of the iliac crests
supracrestal plane
plane at the level of the iliac tubercles
transtubercular plane
plane at the level of the anterior superior iliac spine
interspinous plane
What four pairs of muscles, located anteriorly and laterally collectively compress and hold the abodminal organs in place?
external obliques
internal obliques
tranversus abdominis
rectus abdominis
How do these 4 muscles support?
Work together to flex and stabilize ther vertebral column.
-When they unilaterally contract they laterally flex the vertebral column.
What are the four muscles located posterior?
iliacus
psoas major
psoas minor
quadratus lumborum
Rectus Sheath
the three flat muscles of the anterior/lateral abdominal wall end anteriorly in a strong sheet of aponeurosis
What does the rectus sheath enclose?
the rectus abdominis
What is the midline of the rectus sheath?
the linea alba
What is the line where the retus sheath arrangment changes ?
Arcuate line, 1/2 way btw umbilicus and pubic symphysis
Know the different above the arcuate line
and below it
