Q

Compare and contrast the first and second wave of psychology using the synthesis model

A

Before the 1st wave, Psychology was only focused on the negative. Thus, the Anti-thesis to that is the 1st wave of PP. It only focuses on the positive and stayed away from the negative. Then the improvement, the synthesis, the 2nd wave of PP focuses on the positive and the negative. Embracing the ‘dark side’

Q

Describe the maybe parable and the point that it tries to make

A

The parable is that a man loses his horse and his village tells him sorry and that they feel bad, the man says “maybe”. The horse comes back with a pack of wild horses and now the village comes to congratulate him, He says “maybe”. His son then rides one of the horses and breaks his leg, the village come again and tell him that they’re sorry that happened, the man says “maybe”. The conscription officers then come and don’t take his son, the village congratulate him and he says “maybe”
The point is that we don’t know if an event will turn out to be ‘good/bad’ we may know how it makes us feel initially but that doesn’t make something good or bad
