Hemodynamic Monitoring is used for …..

assessing cardiovascular function in the client who is critically ill or unstable.

Main goal: to evaluate cardiac and circulatory function and the response to interventions

Hemodynamic status is assessed with several parameters

C-entral Venous Pressure (CVP)
P-ulmonary Artery Pressure (PAP)
P-ulmonary artery Wedge Pressure (PAWP)
C-ardiac Output
I-ntra-arterial blood pressure

Difference between "DIRECT" and "INDIRECT / DERIVED" parameters

DIRECT --obtained straight from the monitoring device (i.e, Heart rate, arterial, venous pressures)

INDIRECT/ Derived --calculated using the direct data
(i.e, cardiac index, MAP, stroke volume)
