WEEK 5 Flashcards
(8 cards)
Three Types of RNA:
encodes amino acid sequences of a polypeptide.
MESSENGER RNA (mRNA)
Three Types of RNA:
it is responsible for carrying the amino acids to ribosomes while translation.
TRANSFER RNA (tRNA)
Three Types of RNA:
produces ribosomes with the ribosomal
proteins that organelles responsible for translation of the mRNA.
RIBOSOMAL RNA (rRNA)
The process where mRNA is translated into a protein sequence at the ribosome. It is also the second step in protein synthesis.
TRANSLATION
are composed of amino acids linked by peptide bonds.
The sequence of amino acids determines the protein’s structure and function. It has four levels of structure: primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary.
PROTEINS
replicates and stores genetic information.
It is a blueprint for all genetic information contained within an organism.
DNA(DEOXYRIBUNOCLEIC ACID)
converts the genetic information contained within DNA to a format used to build proteins, and then moves it to ribosomal protein factories.
RNA(RIBONUCLEIC ACID)
The process where a segment of DNA is copied into mRNA. It is also the first step in protein synthesis.
