A

When it is necessary for a light locomotive or a multiple unit train (empty or loaded) to proceed through one or more sections in the wrong direction:

  • over the unaffected line to assist a failed train from the front

or

  • over the unaffected line to assist a failed train that is beyond a train that cannot provide assistance

One of the following applies:

  • You have operated the points to the correct position to return the movement to the affected line
  • You have got confirmation from any other signaller involved that the points have been set in the correct position to return the movement to the affected line
  • You have got confirmation from the ground-frame operator that the points have been set in the correct position to return the movement to the affected line
