Week 7 (Mixed ANOVA) Flashcards
(17 cards)
Main effect (Two Way ANOVA)
The influence of one IV irrespective of others
Interactions (Two Way ANOVA)
How the effect of one variable depends on the other. A significant interaction shows that the effect of one IV is taken into account
Post Hoc tests (Two Way ANOVA)
Used to understand main effects( if the IV has more than 2 levels.) Post Hoc tests needed to understand where the significant differences are
Mixed ANOVA
-One IV is manipulated between participants
-One IV is manipulated within participants
What post hoc test is used for within subjects
Bonferroni test
What post hoc test is used for between subjects
Tukey test
Output of Two Way ANOVA test
-The same 3 F ratios
-Main effects of IV1
-Main effects of IV2
-IV1 X IV2
F(?,?) = ??, p ? .05
What is degrees of freedom
Number of independent values or observations that can vary freely
Test for normality
If skew and kurtosis are between -1 and +1 then you are okay
Tests for homogeneity of variance
- Levene’s test
- Rule of four
*Take the largest SD and divide by the smallest SD
*If result is less than 4 the data have met the homogeneity of variance assumption
When to use non-parametric test
If violations are outside the limits
What non-parametric test would you use for
-IV’s with 3 or more conditions
-Between-subjects design
Kruskal-Wallis Test
What non parametric test would you use for
-Iv’s with 3 or more conditions
-Within subjects design
Friedmann Test
What non parametric test would you use for
-For IV’s with 2 conditions
-Between-subjects design
Mann Whitney Test
What non parametric test would you use for
-For IVs with 2 conditions
-Within subjects-design
Wilcoxon Test
What post hoc test would you use after a Kruskal Wallis analysis
Mann-Whitney Test
What post hoc test would you use after a Friedman Test
Wilcoxon test
