Q

Definitely AN EXAM QUESTION: Define a culturally response pedagogy AND tell me how it is practed or could be used as an exam question.

A

A culturally responsive pedagogy approaches teaching with the idea that every student is an individual and learns differently because of their social, cultural, and language experiences. Culturally responsive pedagogy ALSO not only acknowledge this uniqueness in every student, but finds way to use it and implement into everyday teaching to promote best learning outcomes for every student.

17
Q

What is important to do as an educator within this topic?

A

To be a culturally responsive educaator in your classroom. Have the mindset described on a different cuecard. If you can’t travel, get to know necomeres, refugees, and immigrants. To decolonize the system, it will only ever be possible with responses and teaching that is culturally aware of both the history of colonization, and the continued barriers for immigrants and refugees in education.

18
Q

If you have a student who is struggling to due new chalelnges and circumstances to due being in a new culture, should you lower your ecpectations?

A

No, you should not. This doesn’t mean being overlly difficult on the child, rather, encouragign them to keep working hard, be open to new challenges, and to give them the credit that they deserve in being capable agents of their own lives.
