the four Ds
o Deviance – the degree to which behaviours are deviant from the norm through informal assessment or test batteries + being aware of differential diagnosis and comorbidity
o Dysfunction – the degree of dysfunction in school performance or social skill
o Distress – degree of distress the disorder causes – children sometimes can’t articulate their feelings, interviews with parents and teachers
o Danger – risk for self-harm and harm to others
