Q

3 Hypothesis about floresiensis– pros and cons of each

A
  1. Island dwarfism of an isolation population of Homo erectus– weird shit happens on islands, the brains are homo erectus like in shape but the scale is very off. scale could be explained if living in an environment that selects against big brains
  2. Diseased individual– doesn’t have the brain shape you would expect from a diseased human
  3. A surviving remnant from an early migration out of Africa by Homo habilis or Australopithecus– would explain the brain scale, but missing a huge chunk of intermediate fossils if true (maybe found a mandible of one of these ancestors on Floris)
