What is meant by prevailing winds?
Prevailing winds are the direction from which the wind usually blows in a particular place.

Prevailing winds affect temperature and rainfall depending on where they come from. Winds from the Sea bring moisture, causing wetter conditions. Winds from the land are dry. If the wind is warm, it raises temperature; if itβs cold, it lowers temperatures.

Relief refers to the height above sea-level(altitude) and shape of the land, especially whether it is high or low.

The temperature drops by about 1 degree Celsius for every 100 metres of height.
Why are mountain places colder than places at lower altitude?
The higher a place is, like a mountain, the colder it is because as air rises, it expands and cools by about 1 degree celsius for every 100 metres of height, leading to lower temperatures.
How does relief affect rainfall?
High places like mountains receive more rainfall because rising air cools and condenses into clouds and rain.
What is the climate of places at lower altitudes of these mountains?
Lowland places are quite warm and quite wet.
