Q

Support form brain scanning studies, Smith (1995)…

A

Used brain scans to show how different areas of the brain are active when doing visual or verbal tasks. Provides support for the distinctiveness of the separate visual and verbal stores as they are located in different areas of brain

Q

Not all aspects of the model are fully understood. Baddeley…

A

said “ the central executive is the most important and least understood component”. E.g. been argued it has limited capacity, but this hasn’t been researched properly with any precision. It’s usually defined as being “attention” but likely to have other components that haven’t been researched yet

Q

Support from lab experiments, Baddeley(1993)…

A

Found ppt had difficulty tracking a moving light and describing the angles of a letter, others did but while performing a verbal task. Bc 1st group did two visual tasks whilst 2nd did not. Suggesting there are separate parts of STM that deals with visual and verbal info
