Who conducted the Dual task study?
Baddley
Dual task study
Asked participants to perform 2 visual tasks
Tracking moving lights at the same time as describing the angles of the letter F
Or a visual and verbal tasks
Findings of the dual task study
Performance was better when the tasks were not using the same processing
Suggests VSS and PL exist as separate study
Shallice and Warrington study
KF with a clinical brain injury
Had selective impairment to his verbal STM
visual functioning of his STM was not affected
Suggests the PL and VSS subsystems are seperate
Prahakaran
Uses FMRI scans to study participants
Participants completed tasks with equal amounts of spatial and verbal information
Condition A- spatial and verbal info was seperate
Condition B- integrated
Pabkakaran findings
More activation in the pre-frontal cortex when info was integrated
More activation in posterior brain regions when info was not integrated
Suggests EB exists in the prefrontal cortex
