-Around 1812 Elijah Pepper started distilling on site. Hired James Crow (Scottish Chemist) who revolutionized bourbon production by bringing scientific rigor to process (qualitative analysis, hydrometers, thermometers)
-Crow died in 1856, eventually Elijah Pepper’s son Oscar lost control of distillery
-Called Labrot and Grahmn Distillery until 1941 when sold to Brown Forman.
-Peggy Noe Stevens was instrumental in creation of Woodford Reserve as a visitors center
