What two rivers were important to early Chinese civilizations?
- Huang He (Yellow River)
- Chang Jiang (Yangtze River)
Why was the Huang He River both “China’s sorrow” and a gift?
The Huang He River is called “China’s sorrow” because when it overflowed it caused many people to drown and homes were destroyed but is also known as a gift because it left behind rich topsoil that would help farmers grow large amounts of food.
