what was trench warfare?

A

a new fitghting technique in which soldiers on the frontlines dug and occupied trenches.
The trenches protected them against enemy artilery but it was difficult to make territory.

Changed when german ‘unrestricted sumbarine warefare’ was damaging their ships
June 1917 they landed in France and fought for the Allies
over 4 million US men were drafted in WW1

A

the australian imperial forces (20,000 men) were joined by 10,000 men from new zealand and together they became the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps.

finished training in Egypt and went to gallipoli and then on the the western front

A

Landed on 25 April 1915
came under heavy fire and struggled to gain ground
November they gave up & withdrew under the cover of darkness
aprox.100,000 Allies were injured

A

1917 Tsar Nicholas II was forced to abdicate the throne and Russia left the war
Germany planned a massive attack “ludendorff offensive’ which ending up failing meaning they lost the war
11/11/1918 @ 11 am the armstice began and the Allies had won.
