Roll and slide mechanism:

convex on concave, they roll and slide in the opposite directions

– ulnar and radial deviation

– proximal carpals- convex

– radius concave

• proximal carpals (scaphoid, lunate and triquetrum)- active movement
• distal radius- passive movement

radial deviation- carpals roll towards the radial side and then slide the opposite way

ulnar deviation- carpals roll toward the ulnar side and then slide the opposite way
