Q

steps to read xray

A

ID normal bones, look for cortical continuity, check alignment, look for extra densities or lucencies, look at adjacent joints, compare to prior images, or CT or MRI is not findings but clinical concern

Q

fxs: things to look for on X-ray (1-6)

A
  1. cortical discontinuity, 2. radiolucent fx lines (white), 3. abnormally white or dense areas, representing overlapping one fragments or impaction of bone, 4. extra or unexplained fragments of bone, 5. soft tissue swelling, joint effusions, 6. callus formation in healing fxs
