Flashcards in 1 - Measurable Print Characteristics Deck (27):
What colour would reflect the most then least amount of light?
White - the most
Black - the least
Low density is a ________ colour and a high density is a ________ colour
What is the highest possible density?
How many colour can a densitometer ONLY measure?
What are the 4 colours a densitometer can measure?
C M Y K
What is a densitometer not good at reading?
Light colours, metallic colours, Pantone colours
What process colours make green?
What process colours make red
What process colours make blue?
When a colour is significantly higher in density compared to the others colours, the colour is said to be ________
What colour is the purest colour
What colour has the lest amount of errors in colour ?
What is the colour sequence of our basement press
K C M Y (darkest to lightest)
What is wet ink trapping?
Wet ink film printed ontop of wet ink film
What is the average ink film thickness?
5 um ( micrometers)
What is Ink Trap?
The ratio if an ink film on top of another ink film compared to if the ink was just in paper by itself
When plotting ink film density on line graph what happens on the graph and why?
The line plateaus.
Because colour pigment won't get darker no matter how thick the film is. It stays stagnant after a certain point.
What's the most important layer in ink trapping
Second-down colour (must measure how much ends up on-top of first printed ink)
There are more customer complaints on________
What are the two reasons why customers complain about the colour
1. hard to control
2. Very subjective
What do you HAVE to know to calculate ink trap?
Give an example of dot sharpening/ dot loss
When 75% patch prints as a 72% dot on sheet
Cyan is the absence of
Red (won't reflect any red/orange)
Magenta is the absence of
Green (has some indigo/violet)
Yellow reflects _________ _______ but no _________ _______
1. Red, orange
2. Blue, green
What colour has the greatest amount of hue error?
