10 - Hidden Markov Models Flashcards
(3 cards)
1
Q
What is the Hidden Markov Model (HMM)?
A
an observable process whose outcomes depend on the outcomes of in a known way. Since cannot be observed directly, the goal is to learn about state of by observing
input symbols are not the same as the states
2
Q
How would we solve the Problem 1:Computing the observation likelihood?
A
the Forward algorithm - a method used in Hidden Markov Models to compute the probability of a sequence of observed outputs up to a certain time, given the current state and model parameters
3
Q
How do we solve the Decoding Problem?
A
Viterbi intuition * We want to compute the joint probability of the observation sequence together with the best state sequence
