Informal Reading Inventory
word list to determine which level of assessment should be given, features an oral reading and silent reading portion. pinpoints the independent, instructional and frustration reading levels. The results are used to differentiate instruction and choose appropriate reading materials (QRI and PARCC)

measures an individual students against a group of other test takers (same age or grade level)

measures individual performance as it relates to predetermined benchmark or criteria, measures a student’s progress toward meeting certain objectives

become quite popular, particularly in speech language pathology (test- teach- retest)
