What is toddlers diarrhoae?
A
Chronic and non specific diarrhoea in a young (pre=school) child
possibly caused by underlying maturational delay in intestinal mobility- increased peristalsis -NOT malabsorption
Sx - Varying consistency of stools from well formed to explosive, but the classic is with undigested vegetable visible
No pain, child is well and good
Mx -increase fibre and fat in diet (milk, yoghurt, cheese) -improve Sx
Avoid fruit juice and squash
