Dosages / Administration

A
  1. Hypoglycemia:
    a. ADULT: Titrate and/or repeat until pt at baseline and BGL remains >80
    i. 50mL of D50W (25gm) IV/IO Push, or
    ii. 250mL of D10W (25gm) IV/IO Push
    b. PED: Titrate and/or repeat until pt at baseline and BGL remains >60
    i. 50% dextrose (0.5gm/mL) (>7years old); give 1mL/kg, or
    ii. 25% dextrose (0.25gm/mL); give 2mL/kg, or
    iii. 10% dextrose (0.1mg/mL); give 5mL/kg, or
    iv. 5% dextrose (0.05gm/mL); give 10mL/kg if volume tolerated.
    v. Maximum concentration for NEWBORN: 12.5% (0.125gm/mL)
  2. IV Maintenance: D5W ADULT and PED: Route and indication dependent.
