A
  • Epigastric abdominal tenderness to palpation
  • Exam might be normal

How to you diagnose oesophagitis?

A
  • Oesphagogastric duodenoscopy
    • Reveals inflamed tissue and mucosal erosions
    • Do biopsies to check for increased eosinophils or cellular changes

How do you treat oesophagitis?

A
  • Discontinue offending medication, change diet, lifestyle etc.
  • PPI or H2 blockers (omeprazole / ranitidine)
  • Topical steroids
  • Fluticasone MDI without spacer
