Q

State the function of the immune system

A

The immune system protects the body from infectious disease. It is involved in tissue repair and protection against potential pathogens.

Following the presence and removal of an infectious disease (pathogen), memory cells remain in the body fluids to detect and prevent another breakout of the disease.
