16
Q

Only conduct IMC trng above what altitude?

A

5000’ AGL or MSA whichever is higher

17
Q

What are max bank and pitch for IMC?

A

90 deg of bank, 30 deg of pitch (15 for inexp).

FTU students 60 deg bank, 15 deg pitch

18
Q

During VMC what must aircrew do?

A

Use all available sensors to clear flight path with see and avoid

19
Q

What are the preferred methods of pre-mission brief?

A

Face to face

Then telephonic, email or teleconference

20
Q

When do you use day vs night procedures during civil twilight?

A

Normally day procedures. Night when adverse conditions exist during civil twilight

21
Q

What mins can be used when wearing NVGs and doing TF ops?

A

Can use low illum mins so lower of 1000’ AGL or MEA

22
Q

Manned aircraft should maintain what separation from unmanned assets? After contact is established, what lateral separation can be used?

A

1000’ vertical or 5 NM lateral separation

2 NM lateral separation

23
Q

What should you assume when comms are lost with RPAs?

A

That they’re lost link

24
Q

When doing IMC maneuvering and then done with the maneuver, what should aircrew do?

A

Go to 0 deg bank and pitch to reestablish horizon.

25
Q

Whose responsibility is it to maintain lateral airspace limits? Vertical?

A

Both ABM/WD and aircrew

Only aircrew

26
Q

When should ADB/WD advise about aircraft that may be a factor? MOA borders?

A

Hazardous aircraft within 10 NM.

3 NM from borders for fighters

27
Q

When can you fly with live air-to-air missiles?

A

a) . Air defense
b) . WSEP, operational test and evaluation program
c) . Aircraft flown after generation ex.
d) . As authorized by MAJCOM

28
Q

When flying with live air-to-air missiles, what must be done?

A

Must make “WEAPONS SAFE” call on initial check-in and before each setup
Master Arm must stay SAFE and be verified
Do not simulate weapons employment, squeeze the trigger, or press the pickle button
Max maneuvering category is LIMITED
Do not use terms “HOSTILE” or “KILL” unless acknowledging a kill call

29
Q

With simulated gun employment, what must you do?

A
  • Have no ammo loaded or safe gun

- Perform trigger check before gun employment

30
Q

How can you simulate missile employment with a gun which isn’t safe?

A
  • Place master arm in SAFE
  • Load no live missiles
  • Verify through HUD that master arm SAFE
  • Do not squeeze the trigger
  • Do not conduct BFM
31
Q

Can lasers be used above the horizon?

A

Only with AN/AAQ-33 SNIPER Advanced TPOD and AN/AAQ-28 LITENING in eye safe training mode

32
Q

Can laser-equipped aircraft use the combat laser setting?

A

No during peacetime missions unless OG/CC approves it.

33
Q

When must you perform operations checks?

A

Prior to each engagement or periodically during vulnerability period

34
Q

When does an engagement begin?

A

When opposing aircraft initiates visual maneuvers against each other

35
Q

What determines the maneuvering category?

A

Aircraft at the lowest altitude

36
Q

What is UNLIMITED restrictions?

A

No limitations. Min alt is 5000’ AGL. Weather needed 521–5 NM visibility, 2000’ vertical, 1 NM horizontal and discernible horizon

37
Q

What is LIMITED restrictions?

A

No restrictions pre-merge for offensive/neutral aircraft then:

  • Continues until role reversal
  • KIO or terminate
  • Defender reaches 180 deg turn at start of threat reaction excluding maneuvers into and out of the notch
  • If neither aircraft can be called defender, terminate after first aircraft reaches 180 deg of turn after 3/9 line passage
38
Q

What is considered a defender?

A

Aircraft reacting visually to another aircraft behind their 3/9 line
