  • Epizootic haemorrhagic disease virus (EHDV), at least 7 serotypes
  • Vectored by mosquitoes and midges
  • Endothel damage, similar to bluetongue
  • Notifiable disease

Ibraki disease?

Ibraki disease

  • First description in cattle in Japan
  • Present in South-East Asia and in the USA
  • The virus is one of the EHDV serotypes
  • Clinical signs similar to bluetongue (fever, oedema, erosions)
  • In endemic areas live, attenuated vaccine available for control

• Differential diagnosis in laboratory:

  1. bluetongue,
  2. Acabane disease,
  3. ephemeral fever
