What is first line treatment for a focal seizure?
A
Carbamazepine or lamotrigine
Can use oxcarbazepine, sodium valproate or levetiracetam if not suited

What is used to treat absence seizures?
A
Sodium valproate or ethosuximide (or lamotrigine)

What is used to treat myoclonic seizures?
A
Sodium valproate or topiramate or levetiracetam

Carbamazepine or lamotrigine or topiramate or sodium valproate

What is used to treat status epilelpticus?
A
IV lorazepam (repeat after 10 mins if seizure recurs or fails to respond) Buccal midazolam or rectal diazepam are alternatives in the community

How are febrile convulsions managed?
A
Paracetamol but if prolonged then treat as per status epilepticus
