Q

What is an upset?

A
  • Pitch: Greater than 25 degrees nose up or 10 degrees nose down.
  • Bank: Greater than 45 degrees.
  • Speed: Inappropriate for conditions.

Q

Procedure for any upset

A
  1. ) Recognize and confirm. (Both pilots say “UPSET”)
  2. ) Disconnect: PF disconnects AP and AT
  3. ) Push: PF reduces AOA
  4. ) Roll: PF rolls shortest direction to wings level
  5. ) Thrust: Thrust and speedbrakes as needed (PM calls out “GREEN DOT” when passing it)
  6. ) Stabilize: Establish desired flight path and configuration

Q

Bounced landing procedure

A
  1. ) After the bounce, immediately advance thrust levers to TOGA and press TOGA button.
  2. ) Say “GO-AROUND”
  3. ) WAIT for airspeed to increase above Vref
  4. ) Say “Flaps__”
  5. ) Everything normal go around callouts/actions from there

Q

Pitch Trim is running away, what do you do?

A

A/P disconnect button- press and hold
Pitch trim system 1 and 2 cutout buttons- press in
Once airplane is under control, PF calls QRC Pitch trim runaway
After QRC, PM runs QRH

Q

You need to perform an emergency descent; how would you accomplish this?

A

Call for the emergency descent QRC and it will guide you through each step. CA should fly the emergency descent.

Q

After an engine failure in cruise, what must be active in order to initiate driftdown mode?

A
  1. ) VNAV must be active (why you don’t want to cruise in green ALT)
  2. ) FMS speeds must be active
  3. ) Autothrottle engaged

Q

Once driftdown mode becomes active after an engine failure in cruise, what does it do?

A
  1. ) DRIFT DOWN appears on FMA
  2. ) DD becomes active thrust mode
  3. ) CON thrust is automatically commanded
  4. ) Aircraft maintains altitude until speed decays to green dot, then begins gradual descent at green dot
  5. ) Once reaching selected altitude, EO DRIFT DOWN mode is automatically cancelled

Q

Assuming VNAV and autothrottles are engaged allowing for EO DRIFT DOWN mode to engage successfully, what practically is your only requirement?

A
  1. ) You need to look at the EO RANGE page on the MCDU (should display automatically, but can be found in PERF 2/2), and select CONFIRM EO (LSK 5R).
  2. ) On that same EO RANGE page, look at MAX ALT (LSK 1L) and bug that altitude in the altitude selector.

Q

What if EO DRIFTDOWN mode fails and does not work, but you experienced an engine failure in cruise? How would you manually driftdown?

A
  1. ) Select TOGA thrust and make sure you are in CON thrust mode
  2. ) AT OFF
  3. ) Manually bug green dot
  4. ) Set altitude selector to MAX ALT as listed on EO RANGE page
  5. ) GREEN FLCH

Q

If you really have no reliable airspeed indicators, you can get help via groundspeed, IRS pitch, and GPS altitude. Where can you locate these?

A

Groundspeed: PFD
GPS Altitude: NAV-POS SENSORS-GPS
IRS Pitch: NAV-POS SENSORS-IRS
